Hey Will, I never work on Tuesdays. I've got to draw the line somewhere.I think sometime back in the seventies, when people were putting shag carpeting on the walls, I saw a popcorn ceiling painted metallic gold. It looked just a tad nicer than a confederate flag tacked to the ceiling to cover a bare bulb, but not much.
In our house someone smeared some sort of grit (sand maybe) sparsely over the surface of the sheetrock.Everywhere they did it they started with a pattern in one corner, lost patience, they smeared grit around randomly.

Ha ha ha! Thanks Patrick... I'm thinking that maybe I will just forgo the whole drywall thing and just put super-thick layers of popcorn all over the whole house... make it feel like a set from journey to the center of the earth! If I use the sparkly stuff I can pretend I live in a diamond mine :).

erg, so close, all these windows are 24x55 or 33x55.. and I realized that they are all screens... I Guess that I don't know what happened to the glass versions. It's funny, the newspapers on the screens are from 1964. Guess now I know when they got the aluminum storms :)

Hopefully there are a few others in the neighborhood with old windows for sale!

Have you seen the PBS show where there is a guy that creates moving sculpture? He works in a big old barn and puts together these pieces of metal so they move & shimmer in the wind. I stumbled on the show midway through and never caught the name, but it was oh so cool!

I'd love to know how to make a lawn chair out of a shopping car :-) Maybe I could go snag some of the carts that get stolen & abandoned from Lake Street Target & Cub.

I had a number of people come by and look. I originally went with a one-man-show... and, after reviewing his policy and engineering abilities, let him go.

The current contractor was a recommendation from a friend. They weren't initially the least expensive, but considering the amount of time they needed for the addition in the back it works out to a good deal. And they have a long list of recommendations. I will see how the work finishes up and, hopefully, put a plug for them on here.
